About this service:

A Doula offers advocacy, mentorship, practical, emotional or spiritual support when an individual or family needs extra back-up, between visits from health professionals. They provide a consistent and on-going presence, walking alongside, being fully present or in the background as necessar

How this service is offered (e.g. face-to-face, over the phone etc.):

One to one support for people who are dying and their families. At home, in the nursing home, hospital or hospice.  

Referral process:

Self referral - make your enquiry by telephone and if there is a doula in your area we will introduce you.


Some Doulas do not make a charge, but most do.  This is negotiated with each family. It may be a flat fee or an hourly rate, between £14 and £20.

How long the service runs for:

As long as needed and this is negotiated with each family
