About this service:

The Society can provide the names and contact numbers for Will Writers and Estate Planners who have met our assessment criteria, proven they have the necessary qualifications and will adhere to our strict code of practice. Our members all complete annual audits detailing the training they have undertaken and provide proof of insurance.


This helps inspire consumer confidence and helps The Society of Will Writers maintain their position as the largest body of its type.


The Society also offer over the phone advice to members of the public who are thinking of using or have used a SWW member.

How this service is offered (e.g. face-to-face, over the phone etc.):

Our members can offer a range of services. They offer face-to-face appointments, office appointments or telephone calls. This must be arranged with the members themselves.


The Society's advice is available over the telephone or via email.

Referral process:

Appointments should be made with the member themselves. You can find members details either by telephoning the SWW or by using the find a member function on The SWW website at

Each member has their own policy and this should be discussed with them. The costs of the documents and services provided ussually depend on the complexity of the estate.


Our advice is free and this is inline with our promises made to the Legal Services Board to increase consumer education.

How long the service runs for:

The Society of Will Writers have a self-regulatory body now for over 20 years. We exist to train members and inspire consumer confidence that using a Society approved member is safe.

Language support offered:

Our technical team offer support based on English and Welsh Law. As such they only speak English.


Our code of practice is available in regular or large font and can be accessed online, emailed or posted.
